Every till opens with a counted float and closes with a counted drawer - no exceptions.
What it does
Covers the full lifecycle of a cash-register shift: opening it with a starting float, tracking expected cash automatically as the shift runs, closing it with a physical cash count and an over/short figure, and - for a supervisor - correcting a closed shift's business date if it was ever entered wrong.
How it works
Open with a counted float
Pick a branch, register number, and starting cash amount - or resume whichever shift is already open on that exact register, since two can't be stacked on one till.
Expected cash tracks itself
Every cash sale, refund, and petty-cash movement during the shift feeds into the expected-cash figure automatically, no manual running total needed.
Count the drawer to close
At end of shift the cashier enters what was actually counted; the difference from expected cash is shown in green or red before they confirm, and closing a shift can't be undone.
Fix a wrong business date after the fact
Session Date Correction lets a supervisor search closed shifts and cascade a corrected date to the shift and every invoice posted under it, with a guard against setting a future date.
The problem it solves
Cash-drawer shortages are one of the most common loss points in a retail business, and without a mandatory open-count-close cycle nobody can tell whether a shortfall happened during the shift, during the count, or was never real to begin with. Tying every sale to a session also gives every later report a hard, unambiguous boundary - which shift, which register, which cashier - to work from.
