How it works

Define custody types

Set up the categories of company property that can be assigned, with a default value for each.

Assign

Hand an item to an employee with its serial number, description, value, and date — this always adds a new record rather than overwriting anything.

Return

Mark a specific assigned item as returned; an item that's already returned can't be returned again.

The problem it solves

Company assets handed out to employees are easy to lose track of informally. A proper assign/return trail is also what the final settlement draws on to account for unreturned property value when someone leaves.
