Shifts

The building blocks every schedule and attendance check is measured against.

What it does

Defines the named shift patterns used throughout attendance: a start and end time, whether it spans midnight into the next day, how many minutes of unpaid rest it includes, whether that rest counts toward paid hours, and how many days off it carries. Each shift also shows its computed total hours as it's being set up.

How it works

Set the time range

Enter a from and to time; toggling 'same day' off correctly handles a shift that runs past midnight into the following day.

Configure rest and days off

Add unpaid rest minutes and decide whether that rest time still counts toward the shift's paid hours, plus how many days off the pattern includes.

Save and reuse

Once saved, the shift shows up as a one-click option when building any employee's weekly schedule.

The problem it solves

Most businesses only run a handful of distinct work patterns - a day shift, a night shift, a split shift - even with dozens or hundreds of employees. Defining each pattern once as a Shift, instead of re-typing hours for every employee every week, keeps schedules consistent and makes correcting a company-wide policy (like rest time) a single edit instead of hundreds.
