Sales Order
A commitment to sell, recorded before it's fulfilled.
What it does
Records a client's order — item, quantity, agreed price — without affecting stock or the books, since it hasn't been fulfilled yet.
How it works
Take the order
Enter the same line detail as an invoice, but nothing posts to stock or accounting at this stage.
Fulfill later as a real invoice
When the order is actually delivered, it's turned into a real Direct Sales invoice that does affect stock and the books.
The problem it solves
A promise to deliver isn't the same event as actually delivering — keeping orders separate from invoices means stock and revenue are never counted before the sale is real.
