Purchase Invoice

What actually arrived, at what cost — the real receiving event.

What it does

The invoice for goods actually received: quantity, cost, tax, the supplier's own invoice code, receiving date, and expiry date where the item tracks one. A "With No Qty" variant exists for invoices that record cost/value without a stock quantity movement.

How it works

Enter what was received

Line items with quantity and cost; Price is fetched and shown too, so margin can be evaluated the moment the item is priced for resale.

Supplier Invoice Code is required

Purchase and Purchase Return invoices can't post without it — it's the one field that ties this entry back to the supplier's own paperwork.

Post

Increases stock at the entered cost and creates the payable to the supplier.

The problem it solves

This is the transaction that sets the cost basis for everything downstream — inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and every margin calculation in Sales trace back to what got entered here.
